Brown Snubbed by Obama, totally Funny
4th Mar 2009 22:41:12
Before I even talk about politics, i'm just going to share something amusing with you. I use the web browser Firefox, instead of Internet Explorer. It's faster and more secure, and it has a cooler name, so download and use it yourself. At the top-right of my internet browser is a little Google search bar. Into that, I typed "gordon brown", in order to search for articles about our beloved prime minister, and Google suggested that the most popular search term relating to that is "gordon brown saves the world".
I laughed. But actually, I wanted an article about the snubbing, so I typed in "gordon brown snubbed", and searched. Google suggested to me: Did you mean: Gordon Brown stabbed? Google creators probably not big Labour supporters, I think.
Either way, Obama thinks that Boy Scouts are more important than our Prime Minister, which is in keeping with the view of a sizeable majority of our population. Certainly they'd do a better job of running the country, if only because we'd all be better at securing objects with knots. On top of it all, apparantly, the American media apparently ignored him.
Ah well, I started off wanting to write about this article, that Brown himself wrote about the whole economy-America-downthetoilet thing that's going on at the moment. I'm going to do some quoting.
Second, action to kick-start lending so that families and businesses can borrow again.
Third, all countries renouncing protectionism, with a transparent mechanism to monitor commitments.
Fourth, reform of international regulation to close regulatory gaps so shadow banking systems have nowhere to hide.
Fifth, reform of our international financial institutions and the creation of an international early warning system.
And last, coordinated international action to build tomorrow today – putting the world economy on an economically, environmentally and socially sustainable path towards future growth and recovery.
Hah. So, to summarise:
Second: Something he's miserably failed on already.
Third: British Jobs for British Workers (although admittedly that was a complete lie, so perhaps half marks)
Fourth: Already having failed to failed to regulate the banks over the last 10 years.
Fifth: Admittedly probably a good idea.
Last: Generic comment.
Isn't life grand?
