| Labour and Tories to Ignore Experts over Drugs Issue 7th May 2008 |
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith is expected to reclassify cannabis as a Class B drug - against the advice of officials. The Tories agree with these proposals, leaving the Liberal Democrats the only party who will listen to the advice of experts and Police, who recommed the drug be left at Class C. Labour (who will undoubtedly use our opposition to these plans to paint the Liberal Democrats as "soft on drugs", etc.) will combine the toughening up of the law with an announcement that Cannabis smokers will be let off twice before they are charged. |
